First Session Route

A practical opening route for turning a fresh Bridger Western slot into stable money, gear, and direction.

Start simple: get access, make money, buy stable gear, then branch into stands or cards.

1. Start with a usable spawn

Choose a spawn that gets you to service NPCs and reliable economy loops quickly. If you are learning the game, convenience matters more than a stylish outlaw start.

2. Set up the basics

Before you fight anyone:

  • press M and learn where age and slot info live
  • test X so you understand ocular prowess timing
  • check your current spawn and where you can realistically move next

That removes a lot of the early confusion that gets new players killed.

3. Build your first money route

Your safest early choices are:

  • NPC ambushes outside the safer zones
  • Can Quest wagers if you are comfortable using ocular prowess
  • fishing if you want lower-variance income

Avoid forcing PvP too early unless you already know the map and combat rhythm.

4. Spend on stability first

Early purchases should usually be:

  • ammo support
  • one or two practical utilities
  • a weapon route that matches your current tier

Do not overbuy cosmetics or fringe tools before you can replace lost gear.

5. Leave Mud Witch for later

Cards and stand wipes are powerful, but Mud Witch is not an opening stop unless you already have moola to spare.

The order should usually be:

  1. basic economy
  2. stable combat loadout
  3. only then card rolls or stand chasing

6. Chase rare drops once you can survive them

This is especially true for:

  • corpse parts
  • Arrow Shards
  • rusted Mare's Leg

All of them become much better once your slot can survive the trip home.

7. Move into midgame

Your opening route is complete once you have:

  • a repeatable moola source
  • a spawn you are comfortable using
  • a stable weapon setup
  • enough confidence to start using cards, quests, or stand routes on purpose

At that point, move into the system pages and start building with intent.
