Getting Started
Character creation, alignments, spawn rules, age, ocular prowess, and the safest early-game money routes.
Fresh characters in Bridger Western live or die on setup. The opening is much simpler than it first looks: choose a usable spawn, earn safe money, buy stable gear, then expand into cards or stands later.

First-hour checklist
- Pick an alignment and spawn you can navigate comfortably.
- Learn the few controls that actually matter in combat.
- Make your first moola through fishing, encounters, or a clean wager route.
- Buy stable basics before you gamble on rarer progression.
If you want the full route version of this, go straight to First Session Route.
Character creation basics
Character creation gives you three choices:
- gender
- alignment
- spawn point
Gender is cosmetic. Alignment is the real decision, because it controls spawn access and changes how safe your opening feels.
Choosing an alignment
Note: current information about vampires is inconsistent. Treat vampire availability as uncertain until it is confirmed in the live game.
| Alignment | Best for | Spawn access | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Inlaw | Safer openings | Main town or Digsite | Cleaner access to the main service hub |
| Outlaw | More map freedom | Multiple outlaw-side spawns | Better route variety, rougher early positioning |
| Vampire | Specialist route | Fixed vampire ruin spawn | Unique tools, but no guns |

Spawn rules
- Spawn choices are dictated by your alignment.
- You can pay 150 moola to a spawn NPC to switch to that location.
- Dying at your own spawn has a 30% chance to move you elsewhere, which exists to reduce spawn camping.
- Inlaws cannot switch into outlaw spawn sets, and outlaws cannot switch into inlaw spawn sets.
For a first slot, safer service access matters more than a flashy spawn pick.
If you want every current spawn broken down one by one, open Spawn Points.
Early money routes
The safest opening money sources are:
| Route | What you do | Risk | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| PvP kills | Hunt other players | High | Immediate money, but unstable if your slot is weak |
| NPC ambushes | Leave safe zones and clear thugs / zombies | Medium | Gives money, and full clears also pay out a chest |
| Wagers | Can Quest or Red Corner | Medium | Repeatable, direct cash source |
| Fishing | Buy a rod and fish for money or progression drops | Low | Slow, but one of the safest starts on a weak slot |
XP follows the same routes as moola, so your first hour should focus on one loop that pays for your loadout.
If you want the lowest-stress opener, fishing is usually the easiest recommendation. If you want faster action, encounters and wagers scale better.
Important controls
| Action | Key |
|---|---|
| Move | W A S D |
| Sprint | W + W |
| Fire weapon | M1 |
| Aim weapon | M2 |
| Quick dash | Q |
| Ocular prowess | X |
| Melee | G |
| Fists | C |
| Block | F |
| Stats menu | M |
| Summon horse | H |
You do not need every key immediately. The most important ones early are movement, aim/fire, Q, X, and M.
Ocular prowess (X)
Ocular prowess is your X ability. It:
- improves accuracy
- highlights players and NPCs
- increases reload speed
- lasts longer at higher tier
- can be modified by certain cards
It is especially useful for the Can Quest because it slows the can enough to make the shots more realistic. The charge bar sits on the left side of the screen.
Aging and combat logging
Age is not just cosmetic in this game:
- press
Mto check your age - one death adds roughly 1-2 years
- combat logging adds roughly 5-10 years
- older characters start showing wrinkles and grey or white hair
This makes repeated deaths more expensive than they first look, especially if you are trying to preserve a strong build.
A few other systems
| System | Short version |
|---|---|
| Gangs | Cosmetic only right now; enter a Roblox group ID through M, and the group description must include bridgerwesterngang |
| Manual wipe | Available from the main menu after slot creation |
| Spawn changes | Paid through spawn NPCs rather than a free menu option |
First-hour priorities
- Pick a spawn that gives you clean access to useful NPCs, not a gimmick route.
- Use NPC ambushes, fishing, or a wager loop to get your first stable moola.
- Avoid unnecessary deaths because age stacks up quickly.
- Start using ocular prowess deliberately instead of treating it like a spare button.
